You Go Girl! 2017
Another wonderful summer of YOU GO GIRL! is wrapped up. Thanks to all participants and those who made it such a powerful experience!
Below are highlights from our summer program for young girls ages 11-14. Topics include positive self-esteem, media, body image, role models, planning a career, how to stay healthy, and embracing your girl power.
Our theme this week was self-esteem and empowerment. The girls heard from a Tufts University Veterinarian, a local firefighter, and a Boston Marathon runner as we navigated themes of self-love, body image, false-advertisements, bullying, Photoshop, self-confidence, and building other girls up!
The girls learned all about meditation, mindfulness, healthy eating, staying active, taking care of your mind, and being proud of all the amazing things your body can do for you! Our special guests included a yoga instructor, a dance teacher, and an artist!
The theme of this week was all about embracing your girl power! The girls focused on team-building, goal-setting, following their dreams, and learning about what it takes to be a great leader. We worked with the creator of the Shrewsbury Farmer's Market, a local architect, a doctor, and a self-defense instructor along the way to help the girl's embrace their individuality, confidence, and independence!
